The 2022 American Educational Research Association conference will take place in San Diego and virtually.

Posted April 15, 2022 — Dozens of professors, students and alumni from the University of Houston College of Education will share their research on teacher preparation, STEM education, learning during the pandemic and other timely topics at the 2022 American Educational Research Association conference focused on equity.

The conference will take place April 21-26 in San Diego as well as virtually, bringing together thousands of scholars around the theme of “Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century.”

“I really enjoy AERA because it’s a place to connect in-person with collaborators who I usually only meet on Zoom,” said Melissa Gallagher, an assistant professor in the mathematics education program. “I also really enjoy the breadth of the conference; I can attend not only math ed sessions, but also sessions on all kinds of topics.”

Vincent Carales, an assistant professor in the higher education program, added: “This provides a much needed opportunity to re-connect with friends and colleagues and engage with new scholars who are passionate about advancing educational research.”

The College of Education has two members who hold the honor of being AERA Fellows: Dean Bob McPherson and Professor Jerome Freiberg.
