Master of Education (M.Ed.) Curriculum & Instruction - Literacy Education
Is this program for me?
The M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction — literacy education offers graduates two options to prepare for positions in literacy education:
- A Master’s degree without certification – This option enables the students and advisors to tailor a degree plan specific to interests in literacy education. Students interested in this route may be previously certified to teach or interested in learning more about research in the field.
- A Master’s Degree with a reading specialist certification – this certification allows students to work at all levels, from K-12th grade. They will typically assist students with reading through various methods and strategies and also serve as a coach/mentor to other teachers. Read more about the reading specialist certification.
Completion time is typically under 2 years and as quickly as 14 months (9 hours per semester).
International Students: Please note that this specialization does not meet the requirements for students seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa; however, international students are welcome to pursue it as an online degree from their home country.
