Biographical Summary
After obtaining his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and service in the U.S. Army, he spent several years on the faculty at Purdue University before coming to the University of Houston in 1979. At the University of Houston he was Chairman of the Department of Psychology from 1994 to 1999 and Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies from 1999 to 2010. His major scholarly interests are in the development, evaluation, and utilization of assessment and measurement procedures in clinical and health psychology. He has served on the editorial boards and as a consulting editor for the major journals in the assessment and mental health area and has authored more than 100 papers and publications as well as being the recipient of multiple grants from federal, state and foundation sources. Besides his academic and administrative appointments, he has been a clinical and research consultant to federal, state and local health and mental health agencies as well as a consultant expert to legal organizations and firms. He was in private practice in clinical and forensic psychology for over 35 years and holds several clinical practice Board Diplomates.
