UHCOP is home to award-winning teachers, researchers and mentors engaged in diverse investigations spanning basic, clincial and translational sciences in the areas of drug discovery and development, health outcomes and policy, and patient care initiatives. 

College faculty research and program initiatives include cardiovascular studies, nanoparticle drug delivery systems, neuropharmacology, signal transduction mechanisms, aging and exercise, infectious disease protocols, and patient counseling, and opioid misuse prevention strategies.

The college is home to several research institutes/centers, features a Core Lab of state-of-the-art analtyical and imaging systems, and has numerous active collaborations with other researchers across campus, throughout the Texas Medical Center, and institutions around the country.

Recent faculty publications have appeared in such journals as Nature and Science, as well as major clinical, pharmacological, pharmaceutical and physiological journals.
