Cascade's Dynamic Automated Navigation Building aka Navigating the Left Nav (and the Breadcrumbs)

The Cascade CMS uses a Folder-Page partnership as a key factor in getting its dynamic, automated navigation-building to work.

The Breadcrumb links which appear near the top of the page content, and the Left-hand Navigation Menu which appears in the left column of standard interior pages, are both created out of these dynamic Folder-Page partnerships.

The metadata Title assigned to each Page-bearing Folder (under Edit >> Title) provides the text, and each of those Folders' immediate-child Pages provide a place for the text to be visually rendered.

On the immediate-child Page itself, the text will be rendered as the right-most non-linked item in that Page's Breadcrumb string. Links appearing to the left of that position in the Breadcrumb represent a direct line of ancestor items relative to that Page's immediate-parent Folder.

The text for each link in a Breadcrumb string was drawn from the metadata Title text for the relevant Folder-Page partnership being represented there.

The Left-hand Navigation Menu contains a multi-layer stack of links and may seem more complicated; however, those links are created in a similar way to how the Breadcrumb links are created.
