Marilyn Stidham wins the Golden Paw Employee of the Month Award

Marilyn Stidham, office coordinator in the Center for Student Involvement, is the well-deserved recipient of the Golden Paw Employee of the Month award for February 2024, and her impact on the department has been truly remarkable. Beyond her official job responsibilities, Marilyn has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere within the office, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. Her weekly baking tradition not only satisfies the office's sweet tooth but also serves as a delightful catalyst for team bonding. Her ability to connect with individuals both within and outside the department has played a pivotal role in creating a cohesive work environment. In the face of understaffing challenges, she has demonstrated unparalleled dedication by taking on additional tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the office. Marilyn said, “I feel honored to get the Golden Paw Award. I am very grateful to work at the University of Houston with amazing people.”

Nominated by Kayleen Lam, Interim Program Coordinator, Center for Student Involvement. Lam shared, “Marilyn’s assistance with student hiring, grade checking, and navigating complex processes has been invaluable. Her unwavering support during stressful periods reflects her genuine concern for the well-being of her colleagues. Her infectious positivity and the ability to bring everyone together have not only enhanced morale but also contributed to the establishment of a safe and enjoyable workplace. Marilyn's impact transcends her job description, making her an exemplary recipient of this prestigious award. Lam said, “I experienced Marilyn's exceptional kindness as she went out of her way to make me feel valued and included.” Director of the Center for Student Involvement, Katy Kaesebier, said, “Marilyn is an asset to our team. She contributes to such a positive environment within the department, provides excellent customer service, and is a joy to work with each day!”
