Her impact within the department has been impactful, going above and beyond her official responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of our testing facilities. Her proactive approach is evident in her consistent inquiry about how she can assist, particularly during peak testing periods. Her contributions range from guiding students through exam scheduling to meticulously overseeing check-in and out procedures. Kaytlee also monitors surveillance cameras to uphold exam integrity and scanning completed tests.
Beyond these duties, Kaytlee's versatility shines through her role as a sign language interpreter, ensuring that all students receive equitable testing support. Her punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail helps to enhance the entire testing environment at the Dart Center. Her efforts directly contribute to the academic success of countless students, embodying the spirit of service and support that defines our mission. Kaytlee’s supervisor Christie Penzien, assistant director communication at the Justin Dart Jr., Student Accessibility Center shared “Kaytlee is always willing to accept new assignments that allow her the opportunity to stretch as a professional and expand her interpreting abilities. As a recent UH graduate, she approaches each course she interprets with the tenacity of a student and prepares for lectures by course materials and handouts from the Professor. Kaytlee's care for the Universities Deaf and Hard of Hearing population is evident in each of her interactions with students.”
Kaytlee was nominated by her colleague Gracie Villareal, Testing Coordinator, Justin Dart Jr., Student Accessibility Center. Congratulations again to Kaytlee on being awarded the Division of Student Affairs May 2024 Golden Paw Employee of the Month.
