Alyssa Veteto, assistant dean of students was nominated by her peer Assistant Dean of Students Lanita Holsey for her commitment to the department, the division, and always willing to assist well beyond what is required or asked of her.
Alyssa has repeatedly offered a helping hand around the division, whether it is through volunteering for additional shifts for tailgate event supervision or staying well past 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. to ensure important deadlines are met.
Additionally, Alyssa volunteered to train the Residential Life Coordinators in the housing department on incident report writing and crisis management. Assistant Dean Veteto uses her elevated level of understanding of the UH climate and culture, gained through her previous experience as a housing employee at UH, to accelerate student support and advocacy. She also uses this knowledge to assist the Dean of Students Office with navigating complex conduct and care cases.
On top of her normal job responsibilities and her extra volunteering around the division, Alyssa serves as the Maxient Student Conduct Software Administrator for the Dean of Students Office and has built all letter templates and supplemental resources for the department.
“Alyssa is the true definition of a team player,” Lanita, said. “Her commitment and dedication to student success are evident in her work. I am grateful to have her as a colleague.”
“I don’t know that I have much to say, but it was certainly an honor to be nominated,” Alyssa said. “I would not be able to do the work I do without the support of my team in the Student Conduct area. I work with outstanding professionals who engage in really challenging work, but are committed to supporting not only our students, but also all the staff on our team to be the best versions of themselves.”
Congratulations again to Alyssa on being named the Division of Student Affairs December 2023 Golden Paw Employee of the Month.
