The University of Houston's Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Business Services Department recently demonstrated its commitment to supporting the military community by organizing a heartwarming initiative during their annual holiday retreat. In collaboration with Veteran Services Director Celina Dugas, the Business Services team identified nine active military service members currently stationed overseas.
In a heartfelt effort to express gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these servicemen and servicewomen, the Business Services team undertook the task of creating personalized care packages. These packages, filled with essentials and tokens of appreciation, were carefully curated to bring a touch of holiday joy to those bravely serving our nation far from home.
"The holiday season is a time for giving, thus we wanted to extend our gratitude to those who are making great sacrifices to ensure our safety and freedom," said Caron Park, director of business services. "Through collaboration with Veteran Services Director Celina Dugas, we were able to identify nine individuals currently serving abroad. We hope these care packages provide some additional joy as well as convey our deep appreciation for their dedication."
The Business Services team, with the guidance and support of Veteran Services Director Celina Dugas, ensured that each care package was thoughtfully assembled and personalized. The packages included items to provide comfort and a sense of connection to home during the holiday season.
"It's a small gesture, but we believe it carries a powerful message of gratitude and support," added Celina Dugas, executive director of veteran services. "We hope that these care packages bring a bit of holiday cheer to those who are far from their loved ones during this special time of the year."
The University of Houston's DSA Business Services Department remains committed to initiatives that not only enhance the student experience but also contribute positively to the broader community. This holiday initiative reflects the department's dedication to fostering a sense of appreciation for the sacrifices made by military service members.
