Dr. Pamelyn Shefman has been selected to serve as the Chair for the Student Affairs Assessment Leader (SAAL) network for the next two years. The SAAL is comprised of educators that coordinate assessment for divisions of student affairs to discuss issues to improve their work. SAAL members lead assessment in divisions of student affairs at a variety of institutions across the U.S.
This organization is unique in that it bridges national organizations such as the American College Personnel Association (ASPA) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) to create a network where leaders can share and advance conversations related to creating division assessment infrastructure, supporting assessment projects, and documenting student learning as it relates to the academic mission.
As chair, Dr. Shefman will provide leadership in the pursuit of the organization’s goals, assist in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic actions, as need.
“Participation in SAAL has helped the University of Houston be on the front lines of student affairs assessment,” stated Dr. Shefman. “Because of our involvement in the organization, we can continue to engage in meaningful and important assessment of student success.”
Join us in congratulating Dr. Shefman on her appointment as chair of the Student Affairs Assessment Leader network.
About The Student Affairs Assessment Leaders
The Student Affairs Assessment Leaders main goal is to provide the opportunity for educators that coordinate assessment for divisions of student affairs to discuss issues to improve their work including sharing different experiences such as current stages of assessment and tools used and sharing how folks are documenting student learning and its connection to their academic missions. SAAL also provides opportunities for discussing aspects of our office, responsibilities, and projects and collaborating with peers across institutions.
