April 3, 2014 – Dr. Richard Walker, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services at the University of Houston and vice chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services for the University of Houston System, has been appointed to the NASPA Board of Directors as the 2015 NASPA Annual Conference Chair. He will serve for a period of one year, which will end in March 2015.

NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education is the leading association for the advancement, health, and sustainability of the student affairs profession. Since the association's inception, the NASPA annual conference continues to be an important resource of professional development for NASPA members. Conference attendance continues to grow exponentially due to the wide range of networking, research, and learning opportunities available.

Dr. Walker has over 30 years of experience in higher education, at both public and private institutions. He is a member of many student affairs professional organizations, including the Association of Fraternity Advisors, ACPA – College Student Educators International, and Association of College Unions International.

“It is an honor to be selected to coordinate one of the most important events for this impactful organization,” said Dr. Walker. “I plan to use my professional and association leadership experience to contribute to the growing influence of NASPA through the educational efforts of the annual conference.”

Prior to becoming the vice chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services for the University of Houston System and Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services for the University of Houston in September 2011, Dr. Walker was with the University of Miami for 24 years, where he worked in a variety of progressively responsible positions. He received his Ed.D. in higher education leadership from the University of Miami. He earned a Specialist in Education degree in education administration and supervision from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Education in education administration and supervision from Memphis State University, and a Bachelor of Science in history from Middle Tennessee State University.
