Allie Rowbottom’s debut memoir, ”Jell-O Girls,” was published in July 2018. The memoir braids the evolution of one of America's most iconic branding campaigns with stirring tales of the women who lived behind its facade.
Rowbottom started writing “Jell-O Girls” the summer after her second year at UH. She credits her mentor, Associate Professor of English Mat Johnson, as the first person who urged her to begin working on the project. Rowbottom sees “Jell-O Girls” as a testimony to the experience of American girls and women growing up in America, giving voice to generations of unheard, disbelieved and discounted women.
