Is Anti-Zionism Antisemitic? Rethinking the Question

Dr. Ethan Katz, Associate Professor of History and the Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, will discuss anti-Zionism historically and in our own time. He will examine the question of if and when anti-Zionism can be understood as antisemitic by exploring two major strands of anti-Zionism over the past century–what he calls “critical” vs. “negationist” anti-Zionism. He will then look at the impact of October 7 and the subsequent war, asking how these events have changed the meaning of anti-Zionism.
