Apptainer: A Powerful Containerization Tool

Aravind Kumar Reddy Pasunuri, teaching assistant for the HPE Data Science Institute, will present an in-depth exploration of Apptainer, a powerful containerization tool designed for high-performance computing environments. This talk will cover everything from the basics of Apptainer to running job scripts on clusters, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of how to leverage the tool for their computational needs. The talk will also highlight best practices for using containers for UH clusters, managing dependencies, and ensuring reproducibility. Real-world use cases and examples will be shared to illustrate the practical applications of Singularity on clusters.

About the Speaker

Aravind Kumar Reddy Pasunuri is a master’s student in Electrical Engineering specializing in Controls and Robotics. For the past year, Pasunuri has worked with the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute (HPE DSI) as both a teaching assistant and front desk support. In this role, he has had the opportunity to work with apptainers, gaining practical experience in containerization technology and its role in modern software development practices.
