Thursday, March 21, 2024
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
A lecture by Fabien Théofilakis, Alliance Visiting Professor at Columbia University Spring 2024, Professor at Paris I Pantheon-La Sorbonne, about the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolph Eichmann in 1960-1962. Hannah Arendt, who covered the trial, coined the phrase “the banality of evil” raising the issue of how someone who seemed so “ordinary” became a central figure organizing the Nazi genocide of Jews, Gypsies, gay people, communists, the disabled and the ill.
